My Journey in Time

Life, It's Never What We Expect Follow Me On My Writing Journey

No Longer

Author Tiffani Slaughter

Yesterday was Fathers Day

I felt no sudden desire to call you

I felt no shame for not sending a card

There was no urgency

Absolutely no need

Nothing could have implored me

Instead I woke up and celebrated

A man that actually cared

A man that has raised my daughters

In a way I never had

Yesterday was Fathers Day

I would’ve rather called my sperm donor than you

You ruined your chance to see me soar

You will not see me succeed

There is no chance for you to see my beautiful girls

Grow into beautiful women

You will not see the love I have developed

Regardless of what you taught

My life is worth something

Though you wished it were for not

For today I will close this door

No longer will I mourn

I will lock this door and throw away the key

No longer will I be there

No longer will you see
