Day 18: Writers Challenge – Mind, Body, & Soul

I woke up so energized and ready to go today. I woke up early, made my baby girl an amazing breakfast of eggs and waffles and started my day. Don’t we wish every morning could be so easy? Most days its a struggle to get up when the alarm goes off. Do you experience that? It seems that the longer we are on stay at home orders, the easier it has been to keep a daily routine going. Let’s not mention that I am now 34 years old and they say as you age you don’t sleep as much. I would much rather credit my writing challenge. Carving time out every day has helped me keep the creativity flowing and allowed for a deeper sleep at night. I am no longer stifling myself and my inner writer.

Today we will focus on something a little different. It doesn’t matter who you research, everyone has a story. Each author and writer started in a different way. Some knew when they were young and went all in. Others may have been more scared, unable to put pen to paper. For most, life gets in the way. We are going to have fun with this and create a poem of the could haves and should haves. Lets get it all out on paper. Every other sentence will be “They were writing” . Give it a try and see where it takes you.

They were writing
While you were a pregnant teen
They were writing
While you were changing diapers
They were writing
While you were working nine to five
They were writing
While you were working for others
They were writing
While you were moving across the country
They were writing
While you were wasting money on a garden you never took care of
They were writing
While you were selling Jewelry
They were writing
While you were letting others discourage you
They were writing
While you were at the bar
They were writing
While you watched way too much television
They were writing
While you were wasting all of your talent

Now that you have written this yourself, remember it. Every time you make plans to go out or to sit down and watch another episode of your favorite show, recite this poem. If you haven’t written for the day, should you be playing? This is a great way to get you in focus if you truly want to be a successful writer. Thank you everyone and happy Hump Day.
