Writing Tip #2 – Picking the Voice

It is important to pick a voice inside of your writing and stick with it. A lot of potential good reads have been ruined by going between first and third person. It can confuse the reader because they are wondering who is speaking and what they are trying to put out. If I was writing this whole post saying I and me and then switched it up to she and her it would change the whole tone in my writing.

This has been something I struggled with a lot when I started writing. I still catch it and correct it most of the time. In order to be strong as a writer you need to come off as confident and have a good flow. The only way for the flow to stay consistent is to pick a voice and stick with it.

What is something you do to make sure you stay in first or third person throughout your writing?
